Kate Newby has steadily expanded the field of sculpture, developing a practice that dissolves the boundaries between object, architecture, landscape and everyday life. Rather than treating architecture or public space as a backdrop, Newby works with windows, pavements, walls, floors, doors and landscape as active sites of artistic inquiry , embedding sculpture within the experience of inhabiting a place.

In the exhibition The leaves were brighter than the grass, Kate Newby’s works enter into dialogue with the former Dimesse church, built around 1720 and now home to Fondazione Bonollo.
